What's New? Malbec World Day & Two Events This Week!

What's New?!

In celebration of Malbec World Day on April 17th, this week we are featuring two delicious Malbecs from Piattelli Vineyards. If you haven't had the chance to attend the Piattelli event last month, I would highly recommend grabbing a bottle (or two!) of each wine. Malbec World Day commemorates the day when President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento carried out an expedition and essentially transformed Argentina's wine industry into what it is today. He hired Michel Aimé Pouget, a French soil expert to bring over vines. Malbec was brought to Argentina from France in 1853. Now, Malbec is recognized as a national varietal in Argentina and more than 70% of the world's production of Malbec is planted there!

-2016 Piattelli Premium Reserve Malbec, Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina ($17/BTL)"A striking, slightly smoky wine with a deep burgundy hue, Premium Reserve Malbec’s fruity bouquet delights the senses and warms the palate with notes of blackberries, blueberries

and

lavender, lingers with a gentle tannin pull, and finishes with subtle flavors of toasted hazelnuts."-2015 Piattelli Limited Production Grand Reserve Malbec, Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina ($24/BTL)"A rich and fragrant wine with a deep purple hue, Grand Reserve Malbec envelops the senses with an exquisite bouquet of sweet and spicy plum, blossoms in the glass to reveal notes of tea leaves and cassis, lingers on the palate with a moderate tannin pull, and finishes with understated-yet-resonant oak."
