Vineyard 29 Cru Cabernet Sauvignon

Vineyard 29 Cru Cabernet Sauvignon: Delicious Cabernet Sauvignon ($55/BTL.)

Today's Featured Wine

Vineyard 29 has a very interesting history behind it. In 1989, Teresa Norton and Tom Paine came to Napa Valley to retire but they soon realized that their estate was a prime growing area for Cabernet Sauvignon so they chose to grow! Their Cabernet is more European in style with more freshness and vibrancy than most Napa Cabs but also on with more focus on tannins and structure. Philippe Melka is their current winemaker. On a very interesting side note, their Aida Estate which is located just north of St. Helena produces some really great grapes. Larry Turley produced a bunch of great Zinfandels at that site. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on that site is owned by Vineyard 29. Truly spectacular stuff!

Vineyard 29 Cru Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, 2012

$55.00/BTL

82% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest the other four Bordeaux varietals (Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec). These grapes come from multiple vineyard sources which span the majority of Napa Valley all the way from Coombesville to St. Helena. This wine was aged in 50% new and 50% once-used French oak so what you are getting on the nose is some vanilla, tobacco notes. Other than the dominance of oak, you also get big dark fruits and red fruits. The finish is rich with dark cherry and vanilla on the palette. Excellent velvety tannins and a really great well rounded wine. Get yourself a bottle of Cru Cabernet Sauvignon today!
