[Re-sent] What's New: October 2019

October 2019: What's New + Upcoming Events!

October 2019: Yadda Yadda Yadda...It's Fall!

Autumn is here and it brings back old-time memories of the leaves changing and sweater weather. Although the leaves don't change color here in Florida (only the license plates), we still like to be festive! Plus,

stone

crab season is right around the corner! What kind of wines should you be drinking now that it is fall? Do not fret! We have you covered. Be on the lookout for spicier reds and nuttier, creamier whites.

Switch it up! Of

course

we like Pinot Noir, Beaujolais, and full-bodied reds but let’s not forget full-bodied whites like oaked Chardonnays, honeyed Bordeaux blends, and creamy Rhône blends. For reds, try considering a nice Dolcetto, a more robust Rhône/GSM blend with a considerable amount of baking space, or even a rich Zinfandel with a long fruity finish.

 October Dates to Remember

We had quite a bit of fun on Monday with Chef Scott from Garden City Cafe! Scott provided a small buffet for the Monday Night Football game and we will continue to do so throughout the season. Come on by and enjoy some wings and other light bites and sip on some Zinfandel! Also, come in and enjoy a special wine flight, tonight only!

Upcoming Events:

  • Friday, October 11th: Textbook Wines with Bob Hudon of Winebow - 6:00p.m., $25/person.

Founded by Jonathan and Susan Pey, Textbook specializes in growing small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay grown in the Oakville, Yountville, and Los Carneros appellations of Napa Valley. Their flagship wine, "Mise en Place", is sourced in the Oakville district directly next door to Screaming Eagle. The Pey’s European background led to Textbook’s “bold-yet-balanced” winemaking style which has made Textbook an industry-leading producer of inspiring Napa Valley wines enjoyed by wine consumers across the U.S. and abroad. RSVP Here or call us at (561) 935-1720.

  • Tuesday, October 15th: Capezzana Wine Tasting with Geri Coppola and Pierpaolo Guerra - 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., $15/person.

Capezzana, among the oldest wine estates in Tuscany, has been producing wine in Carmignano since pre-Roman era, about 3000 years ago, as the wine jars and tasting cups found in Etruscan tombs testify. In the Florentine state archives a parchment dated 804 A.D.: it is a lease document showing that vines and olives were cultivated for the production of wine and oil at Capezzana as far back as 1200 years ago. In 1475, during the early Renaissance, Monna Nera Bonaccorsi built the first 'Nobleman's house'  along with nine farm houses with the wine-making buildings. Other generations and families were to follow in the ownership of the property: the Cantucci, related to Medici, and the Marchesi Bourbon del Monte. RSVP Here or call (561) 935-1720.

  • Wednesday, October 16th, Bello Family Wines Tasting: 5:30 - 7p.m., $20/person

Come and meet Chris Bello, winemaker/manager of Bello Family Wines! In 2000, determined to produce a premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Michael Bello purchased a piece of prime real estate located in the Napa Valley’s Rutherford Bench district. He set about constructing a French farmhouse with materials imported from France, incorporating details that had never been seen before in Napa Valley. His dream to produce a quality boutique Cabernet Sauvignon was set in motion. The story of Bello Family Vineyards would be incomplete without a mention of Megahertz, a small thoroughbred racehorse that has come to epitomize the family’s ambition to succeed and ability to envision the future. She won her initial race at Santa Anita in 2002, and over the course of her racing career, Megahertz earned more than $2 million, winning 14 races, taking second place six times and third place five times. Now retired, the Megahertz legacy lives on in a Cabernet Sauvignon made by Bello Family Vineyards.

  • Friday, October 18th: Sandro Fay and Cantina del Taburno Tasting: 5:30 - 7p.m., $15/person
