O'Shaughnessy Estate Winery is a family owned winery that is located in the Howell Mountain District of Napa Valley. Betty O'Shaughnessy had founded and established the winery back in 1996. It took over 8 years to build the winery, their 12,000 square foot cave, and the 37 acres of vineyards surrounding the estate. Sean Capiaux is their President and winemaker and has a nice resume having starting making wines at Jordan Winery, to Perth to assist at the Houghton Winery, then back to the United States where he was an assistant winemaker at Peter Michael Winery for four years before he came to O'Shaughnessy.Their Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 4% St. Macaire, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Carmenere.

It is very bold and robust in style with aromas of blackberry, dark red cherry, and tobacco leaf. There is also a really nice smokiness that lingers and everything comes together in the glass. On the palate, you get powerful and concentrated fruit and silky tannins. There is a long finish that leaves behind a nice spice and dark fruits. Get some while you still can!
