Wine 1: 2019 Pinot Noir by Bass Phillip ‘Bin17K’ Gippsland, Australia

The selection of the fruits is coming from the deepest soils or younger vineyards. Delicate red fruits with purity, the wine is made to provide drinking pleasure straight away.Bass Phillip, specialists of high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, was established in 1979 in the Southeastern corner of Australia. Bass Phillip is named after two men of pioneering spirit, foresight, and leadership in Australia: George Bass, an explorer of the Australian Coast, and Arthur Phillip, a British admiral who set up the first permanent European colony on the Australian continent in 1788. Founded by Phillip Jones, a Burgundy lover who began his career in telecommunications and IT, Bass Phillip was the result of a meticulous search for the appropriate Australian region and organic techniques to develop Pinot Noir wines with depth and fine texture. Over the past 25 years, the Bass Phillip vineyards have grown to 14 hectares, much like a small Burgundy Domaine. Today, united with a singular mission to produce terroir-driven wines of purity, elegance, texture, and complexity, the winemaking and winegrowing team, led by JeanMarie Fourrier, are the stewards of Bass Phillip. Armed with passion and a combination of experience and youthful exuberance, the team crafts some of the finest expressions of Burgundian varieties in Australia.

Wine 2: 2019 MAAL Wines 'Biutiful' Malbec, Valle de Uco, Argentina

This Malbec is made with intentioned to highlight the site specific Malbec and purity of the variety by leaving the oak out of the winemaking process on this specific bottling. This lack of oak usage creates the most vibrant, bright, and luscious expression from Argentina.Matias Fraga is a former restaurant business entrepreneur who never expected to become a winegrower. His background in restaurant business and wine distribution gave him the chance to meet the Catena family, for whom he would later work for over a decade, learning many of the aspects of wine growing and wine business. In 2010, he had a unique opportunity to buy an abandoned Malbec vineyard in an up-and-coming area in the heart of Uco Valley named “Vistaflores”. Although initially the place was in very bad shape, he believed that with patience and hard work he could turn it into an iconic vineyard. Today, his hard work has paid off with MAAL’s unique range of Malbec wines.

Iron Corral Cabernet is complex yet accessible, designed for immediate enjoyment with the capability to age gracefully and be enjoyed for years to come.Vintage 2019 began slightly later than normal in some areas, but nonetheless delivered superb results. Spring was marked by occasional rains, which brought welcome soil saturation, and cooler temperatures, which allowed fruit to mature at a steady pace. Summer helped the grapevines to ripen and catch up from their late start. The warm days and cool nights of the fall allowed gradual sugar accumulation and longer hang times, promising fruit of the highest quality with structural beauty from balanced tannin, sugar and acid levels. Harvest began slightly later than normal in some areas with fruit picked at its peak, promising exceptional flavor in bottle.
