Today's Featured Wine

Robin Lail has winemaking in her genes. Her great great uncle, Gustave Niebaum founded Inglenook going back 130+ years. Inglenook was considered the Chateau Lafite of Napa Valley for many years. His wines had won many gold medals in Paris in the late 1890s. Her grandfather was a businessman who saw the value of what Gustave had started and had decided to carry it forward. The early 20th century was rough for the wine business as a whole. Phylloxera had struck the vineyards and then prohibition was instituted. When prohibition was repealed, her father reopened the winery and was the first one to put Napa Valley as an appellation on a bottle of wine and he was Robert Mondavi's mentor. In 1995, Robin had founded Lail Vineyards. Since then, they have been producing superior wines and it is such an interesting history that the family has.

Lail Vineyards Blueprint Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, 2014$38.25/BTL, $444/Case

Today we are featuring

Lail Vineyards Blueprint Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley

. It is 100% Sauvignon Blanc which sees a flirtation of French oak in barrels that are 65% new oak and then transferred to stainless steel so the little time it is spent in oak gives the wine a little more density on your mouth and complexity. This wine has such lovely lemongrass and citrus aromas. It also has a presence of honeysuckle, passion fruit, and vanilla. The flavors are fresh and focused and the wine has lively acidity and is vibrant with your classic citrus flavors. It goes great with such a wide variety of foods, particularly rich fish, shellfish, and even Asian foods!
