Our latest Cellar Stocker offer!!

Today we have an awesome collector wine. This is for those who choose to enjoy some of the best wines Napa has to offer.

We’ve been searching long and hard on wines with great value and we found a gem that we wish to share with you. We’re going to be rolling out multiple offers during the summer, one after another, until they sell out. We will be stocking the store slowly with other rare finds. We’re talking Paul Hobbs, Chappellet, Araujo, Staglin, Sloan, and more! Just a handful of bottles on some of these, and they will sell out soon. Move quick to secure your spoils.

Die-hard collectors know and love Dominus - a highly-praised estate that won Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year award in 2018. But if you don’t want to drop $300-500 for their big dog, try this instead. This is their entry-level 96-pointer: The Napanook Red.

It all starts with the Moueix family of Pomerol (Château Pétrus, Chateau Trotanoy, Hosanna, etc.). Christian Moueix came to Napa in the 80s to start a new project with Napanook Vineyard, that eventually became Dominus. The vineyard was originally planted by George Yount in 1838. Christian has been earning massive praise since day one.

Antonio Galloni’s Vinous mentions that “while most of the attention focuses on the flagship Dominus, readers should not overlook the Napanook”, and Jeb Dunnuck adds *“this beauty should be snapped up by savvy readers.” A recent Wine Enthusiast study of “California’s Top 10 Collectible Wines” ranked Dominus #2 just below Screaming Eagle, and above Scarecrow, Opus One, Monte Bello, Harlan, Colgin, Insignia, because “Moueix first fell in love with Napa Valley as a grad student studying enology at UC Davis, during the 1960s. Dominus Estate, a minimalist stone winery in the historic Napanook Vineyard in Yountville, is his monument to that moment… one of the most long-lived and classically styled wines in California, mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Collectors have invested in Dominus for a generation, but it’s recently appreciated in value almost as fast as Screaming Eagle.”

We could talk about Dominus all day, but the high reviews each year as well as the value that you get out of this wine speaks for itself and makes for an awesome collectible.96 points - James Suckling

"An open and beautiful wine with green-olive and currant aromas and flavors. Some bark and earth, too, together with mushrooms, herbs, crushed stones and pomegranate. Medium to full body with round, creamy tannins and refined finish. Blood orange at the end. Crunchy. So drinkable now, but will age beautifully."94+ Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent"The 2019 Napanook is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot, harvested from September 29 to October 10. It was aged in 40% new oak. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it springs from the glass with Morello cherries, black raspberries, and black currant pastilles scents, followed by hints of cinnamon toast, chocolate box, pencil shavings, and menthol, plus a waft of lilacs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely coated with vibrant, energetic black and red fruits, framed by beautifully plush tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long with a spicy lift. It is scrumptious right now in this fruity flush of youth, albeit with a good six hours+ in a decanter. Otherwise, leave it a good 3-5 years in the cellar and drink it over the next 18+ years. 2450 cases were made, to be released in April 2022.”

Roughly 25 six-packs in Florida left, and it will go fast.
