It's the perfect opportunity to try before you buy. Tickets are just $30 per person.

We have the opportunity to procure some outstanding Brunellos from three different single vineyards with limited availability and production. The Salicutti winegrowing estate, owned by the Eichbauer family of Tantris fame, is a beautiful spot located in southeastern Montalcino. The precise history of the property, which is about two hours from Florence, is unclear, but its name likely refers to the stream that marks its southern boundary. When Francesco Leanza first began farming it almost 30 years ago, few would have guessed that it would become known for its grand terroir. The estate house and cantina are at the center of an enclosed 11-hectare area that includes 4.5 hectares of vines, an olive plantation and forest. The Eichbauers respect nature and its creatures and are concerned about the impact of humans and the technology of culture. Salicutti is the first organically certified estate in Montalcino. Their vines date back to 1994 and their soils have never been treated with conventional pesticides. Wines are cultivated here using traditional methods: by listening to nature and following her guidance.

The Wines

Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino 'Sorgente' 2017 - $110/BTL($99/BTL 6pk price. Only 2,300 bottles made, only 60 imported into Florida)

Vinous Media 94 Points.Wine Spectator: 94 Points. A savory version, bursting with balsamic aromas of juniper, rosemary, thyme and eucalyptus. Reveals more fruit on the palate, delivering cherry, raspberry and floral flavors. Overall, this is sleek and succulent, with a terrific aftertaste. Best from 2025 through 2043. 244 cases made, 200 cases imported. — BSWine Advocate: 94 Points. Sorgente means "spring" in Italian, and this wine did indeed make the jump a few years back from Rosso di Montalcino status to Brunello (although the wine name is inspired by a nearby water source). The Salicutti 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Sorgente is firm and compact, and it shows an etched and highly linear style that suits it quite well. This elegant wine offers wild berry and floral nuances as well as a sharper mineral note at the back. This vintage is lean on the palate, but the focus is on freshness more than it is power. Sorgente has made important strides forward in quality these past two years. Closed with a black wax capsule, only 2,714 bottles were released. Drink: 2024-2038.Wine Enthusiast: 93 Points. Aromas of baked plum, blue flowers, game and new leather waft out of the glass. Showing an earthy elegance, the linear palate features truffle, ripe Morello cherry and crushed black olive framed in polished, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2024–2029. KERIN O’KEEFE Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino Piaggone 2015 - $126/BTL($113.40/6pk price. 7100 made, 180 bottles imported)

Vinous: 97 Points. Drink: 2024-2038. Fully saturated red. Captivating aromas of red cherry, strawberry nectar, roses, violet and sweet spices. Dense, juicy andextremely well-balanced, with vibrant flavors of red fruit, spices and minerals complicated by notes of sweet pipe tobacco and coffee. The finish is long, precise and very pure. One of the year’s best Brunellos.Wine Spectator: 96 Points. Bright cherry and juniper flavors are the main flavor themes, augmented by strawberry, wild thyme, stone and loam notes.Taut, elegant and well-structured, balanced and long. The finish reveals this wine's potential. Best from 2023 through 2045. 525 cases made. — BSWine Advocate: 94 Points. Drink: 2021-2035. The Salicutti 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione is a mid-weight red wine with a deep and lasting aromatic impact. The wine offers very vertical or lifted aromas of dried fruit, cedar wood, tilled earth, cigar, cola and medicinal herb. It also shows a lot of balsamic character, and this is something I often recognize in warm-vintage Brunello, while it offers less primary fruit. The character here is ethereal and fragrant, shedding any monolithic tones you might expect of a wine of this depth and persistence. I would recommend a medium-term drinking window so that you catch the fruit before it fades.Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino Piaggone 2016 - $126/BTL($113.40/6pk price. 7800 made, 180 bottles imported)

Wine Advocate: 95 Points. The Salicutti 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione draws its fruit from a small 1.2-hectare parcel that sits a little lower inaltitude on this beautiful bijou estate. Piaggione is one of the historic single-vineyard wines made here, and its personality isgenerous, open knit and elegant. The oak is well integrated and the wine offers taut, fresh and pure fruit intensity. There arebright berry and sour cherry aromas with blue flower, rosemary and a touch of crushed stone. Production for this pretty wine is 7,760 bottles. Drink: 2024-2044.Wine Spectator: 94 Points. This red is fresh and vibrant, but with a meatiness to its cherry, plum, earth, tar and cigar box flavors. A hint of spice on thelingering finish suggests a light touch of new oak. Best from 2024 through 2045. 646 cases made. — BSVinous Media: 93 Points. The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione pulls you deeper and deeper into the glass with an alluring display of floral-tingedwild berries, balsamic spices and sweet pipe tobacco. For all of the intensity on the nose, the palate is incredibly pure andenergetic, offering notes of plum and currants cascading across a core of bright acidity. This is a mix of opulent pleasure andtension, tapering off to a nuanced coating of tannins and a mix of blue and purple-tinged inner florals. There is much morebalance here than I recall, as the Piaggione is coming along beautifully in the bottle. Drink: 2024-2036.Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino Teatro 2015 - $210/BTL($189/BTL 6pk case. 1800 made, only 60 imported)Wine Spectator: 95 Points. A lightly toasty, resinous aroma frames the ripe cherry, plum, earth and tobacco flavors in this powerful red. Well-structured,ending with a saline accent. Almost approachable now, but should age beautifully. Best from 2023 through 2043. 130 cases made. — BSVinous: 94 Points. Drink: 2025-2034. Lively red, this is the lightest colored of the three Brunellos from Salicutti this year, but it’s an absolutely beautiful red hue Iquite like to see in 100% Sangiovese wines. Perfumed and easygoing, with lively aromas and flavors of sour red cherry, strawberry and spring flowers. Smooth and vibrant on the long juicy finish. Sneaky concentration and outstanding purity of fruit here.Wine Advocate: 93 Points. Drink: 2021-2035. The Salicutti 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Teatro is a dark and savory expression of Sangiovese that reveals plummy dark fruit, dried blackberry and a heavier center of gravity compared to the other two Brunellos released by this estate in 2015. The wine shows completely integrated fruit tones that fold seamlessly into slight spice, tobacco and tar. Like the other two wines from Salicutti, Teatro offers an immediate and accessible personality that gives you greater choice when deciding when to drink it. You can enjoy it in the near-term or wait to cellar it long.

Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino Teatro 2016 - $216/BTL($194.40/BTL 6pk case. 1800 made, only 30 imported)

Wine Advocate: 96+ Points. The Salicutti 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Teatro (with just 1,760 bottles made) is the protagonist in this set of new releasesfrom one of the dreamiest estates in Tuscany. If I were to move to Montalcino, I'd want to live here in this beautiful countryhouse on a hill facing the sunset. Felix and Sabine Eichbauer own a true gem, and the magic of place is transmitted through this bottle. There is a width and textural depth to this wine that you don't get in the other two. Teatro also offers a widepanorama of Sangiovese aromas from wild cherry to blue flower to crushed limestone. The Vigneto del Teatro is less than a hectare in size and at a high 470 meters above sea level (with the best views of that sunset I dream about). Drink: 2024-2045.Wine Spectator: 94 Points. This red is elegant, supple, almost creamy in texture, setting the stage for its cherry, strawberry, earth, iron and soy flavors. Balanced, in a lightweight manner, while remaining fresh and long on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2042. 162 cases made. — BSWine Enthusiast: 96 Points. Camphor, perfumed berry, violet and sandalwood aromas come to the forefront. Full bodied and elegantly structured, thepalate offers juicy red cherry, French oak, vanilla and star anise alongside polished, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2026–2036.
