Art+Farm Wine Special (The Messenger #1 and 2, and Circadia)

Today's Featured Wines: The Messenger #1, #2, and Circadia

Today's Featured Wines

Last week, we had three reds that we thought were absolutely delicious. We had a chance to speak with Rob McDonald, one of the founders of Art+Farm Winery in Napa Valley. He described to us in detail about his wine making background with his wife and he explained to us about how they experiment with some different blends while others are focused on their true varietal. "Cabernet should taste like Cabernet", Rob said. Each red was unique in the sense that they were very different on the flavor spectrum. It's always awesome when you can find such great quality wines for a bargain.

The Messenger Red Wine Number OneLot # 914$20/BTL, $204/Case91 Pts. - Wine Enthusiast

Red Wine Number One has a barrage of grape varieties: Cabernet (29%), Merlot (15%), and Malbec (3%) but also possesses more uncommon varietals in California such as Ruby Cabernet (24%), Carignan (18%), Alicante Bouschet (8%), Montepulciano (2%), and Petit Verdot (1%). For those who do not know what Ruby Cabernet is, it is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan in order to give it that ruby color, texture, and freshness. The Alicante Bouschet contributes to a softer texture and the Montepulciano adds a little spicy characteristics

Red Wine Number One won gold in the US National Wine Competition.

The Messenger Red Wine Number Two

Lot # 814$20/BTL, $204/Case

Red Wine Number Two is a Rhone blend where they layered vineyards, varietals, and vintages. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Zinfandel, Mouvedre, and Viogner. The Syrah is co-fermented with the Viogner to give it a brightness and to enhance the fruit so the end result is a nice medium bodied, bright, juicy red wine.Red Wine Number Two won gold in the Rhone Wine Shootout and was voted gold and Chairman's Best of Class in the Long Beach Grand Cru Wine Competition.

2010 Circadia Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, CA$69.99/BTL, $804/Case

"Circadia Cabernet Sauvignon - A journey that will delight all of your senses"The Circadia Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec and 10% Petit Verdot. This Cabernet is made from a blend of fruit from Lodi, Lake County and Napa. It is aged in both stainless steel and used French Oak to preserve its fruit characteristics.

On the nose, there are lots of blackberry, violet, and leather characteristics. Those black fruits jump along with the plum and cherry from the Malbec. It also has a very interesting label! Each dot on the label has a geographic point that is meaningful to make the wine. This is considered their centerpiece and this journey that you choose to embark on will be your reward!
