If you were ever lucky enough to have had some of Venge Vineyards wines, you will know that each wine that they produce is top notch. Their wines are always made in small quantities and they sell out in a relatively short amount of time. Perhaps you may be familiar with Kirk Venge's father, Nils Venge. He is known in Napa Valley for producing the first 100 point rated wine when he worked at Groth Winery. They have had roots in the wine industry for over 60 years and the Venge family also own and operate Saddleback Cellars and Envy. This vintage has a gorgeous, concentrated assemblage of aromas of stone fruits, crushed blue herbs, violets, cherry, anise, and a touch of honeysuckle. On the palate is pure richness from the old-vine Zinfandel with loads of super ripe blackberry, pepper spice, and an enveloping masculinity of char and tannins from the Syrah, Charbono and Petite Sirah. A seamless balance and mouth coating deliciousness are found throughout the palate, with an extra long finish with a touch of barrel tannin at the end.(94 Points) - The Wine Advocate - "Venge has always done a great job with Scout's Honor. His 2014 is a blend of 71% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah, 10% Charbono and 4% Syrah, tipping the scales at a whopping 15.4% natural alcohol. This may be the best Scout's Honor Venge has yet made. Absolutely glorious blueberry and black raspberry fruit, some truffle, licorice and spice are all present in this full bodied, opulent, fleshy and successful wine. It is a hedonistic fruit bomb, for sure, but also intellectually pleasing. This is a big, rich, classic Napa wine from a great, great vintage. Drink it over the next 7 or 8 years." - Robert Parker Jr.
